I objective hope they continue to release the rest of the seasons…

In this laughable series we continue to follow Dr. John Becker as he continues to bitch and moan about everything but deep down inside he has a heart.

We find the second season on dvd containing all 24 episodes Staring the comic as always Ted Danson(tv’s Cheers) and we study him in his daily life from being a doctor, eating at his well-liked diner and other situations while he hates life and everything all around him.

John has two assistants, Magaret (Hattie Winston) the one who makes determined everything is in order and gain certain becker lands on his feet and the incapable Linda (Shawnee Smith) who is only kept cause no one else can stand Becker and vice versa.

Becker’s accepted Diner is bustle by Reggie (Terry Ferrell) who loaths and sometimes is attracted to.

This second season is hillarious and comes HIGHLY RECOMENDED!

Christopher Guest is the anti-Adam Sandler. Guest writes and directs comedies for people with reasonable attention spans, who can bask in subtly wacky jokes and skilled performances by an ensemble of steady funny actors. While he’s always in his movies, he’s always one of the ensemble, never in a “Stare At Me, I’m a Star!” mode. “A Grand Wind,” which he directed and co-wrote with Eugene Levy, is a good addition to Guest’s filmography–an affectionately goofy sendup of ’60s folk music, state against the backdrop of a memorial concert for a folk music promoter. Guest is a master of the ever-so-slightly-askew, presenting his eccentric characters in talking-head interviews in which they matter-of-factly scream themselves to be totally bonkers. There are so many scrumptious performances here that it’s hard to mention them all, but one should trace Guest himself, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer–aka Spinal Tap–as a semi-successful folk trio, the Folksmen; Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara, two of the brightest lights of SCTV, as the star-crossed duo Mitch and Mickey; and such underrated masters of funny acting as Fred Willard and Paul Dooley. One of the best things about this movie is that all of the actors are professional-class singers, and write songs that sound absolutely authentic until you listen closely to the words…Anyway, if you have anything like a well-developed sense of humor, you should earn “A Much Wind” a source of constant chuckles and frequent belly laughs.

Christopher Guest first came to prominence in 1984, as an assistant and star in Remove Reiner’s hilarious “This is Spinal Tap”.

Guest learned at the hands of the master, and the last 20 years of his career have been spent on mockumentary efforts (”Waiting for Guffman”, “Best in Display”, and, in 2002, “A Remarkable Wind”, where he decided to satirize the 60’s folk music movement, something he and his fellow Spinal-Tappers had once done as a skit on Saturday Night Live) . There are hallmarks in Guest’s work. He utilizes a co-writer, the newly well-liked Eugene Levy (the best fraction of Steve Martin’s current “Bringing Down the House”), he has a regular cast of character actors that ad-lib their design through zany and satirical situations in all three films, and he conquers the art compose of teasing fans and celebrated culture icons with gentle spoofing, double entendres, hidden meanings, and really mammoth filmmaking.

Although I enjoyed the film in the theater, it really came into its hold when I was able to survey the DVD where I could marvel at the details and depths of Guest and Levy’s imagination, and the brilliance of their comedy. It’s strewn throughout the film, but a lot is captured and hightlighed in the DVD’s special features.

Buy,Download, Or Stream A Mighty Wind! Click Here

The premise of the film is simple:

Irving Steinbloom, passe icon of the 50’s and 60’s folk music scene, has died in Novel York. His son, who followed him in managing folk music acts, Jonathon (Bob Balaban) endeavors to get a “PBN” concert in his dad’s memory, bringing together three of dad’s oldest and most famed acts. We earn to gape the customary stars in their lives today, deciding to do the display, then practicing, traveling to the Stout Apple and enduring some composed hoopla and memories. Finally, we perceive the vast event.

It was easy to retract out the most outstanding performance of the film, it belonged to co-writer Levy (as Mitch), who completely convinces you, iron gray wig and all, that he is an unhinged, deer-in-the-headlights folk icon, with distinguished of his early musical promise deadened by the cornucopia of meds he’s taken over the last three decades, to try to seize some mental stability. To fully devour his performance, and the humorous wit that drives Levy, view his ad-lib in the Special Features press conference, where Mitch does a completely credible and extraordinary speech, comparing Rap music to folk music. You gotta search for it to bear it!

Buy,Download, Or Stream A Mighty Wind! Click Here

Strolling through the DVD also brought out the idiosyncrasies in the film and let me marvel at the comedic turns of the exquisite Jennifer Coolidge (as Amber Cole, eastern European escapee and PR agent) and John Michael Higgins (as Terry Bohner. Leader of the “Modern Main Street Singers”) . Both were completely over the top in “Best of Explain”, and even more comical here. Both are astonishing scene stealers, but you have to assume succor over the scene to realize it.

In the Special Features, you’re really crushed to pick up deleted scenes that should have survived the film’s editing (particularly Coolidge in a deadpan “piccolo” joke), memorable songs (”The Superb Book”, by the Unique Main Street Singers, is hilarious) and the unmatched wry and acerbic humor of commentators Guest and Levy. Guest, with astounding attention to detail, even filmed the concert section of “A Powerful Wind” with TV cameras to be able to recreate the concert as it might have appeared on PBS or public access.

“AMW” is not for everyone. Those who won’t want to probe for the humor or the double entendre or can’t reminisce about the golden age and the innocence of folk music will probably judge it boring, plain, uninteresting. I’ve rated it four stars, because it pales in comparison to Guffman and Best in Note, but I must say, I really enjoyed the film.

Guest is a genius at understated, satirical comedy and at making gentle, loving jibes at pop culture stereotypes. Although “AMW” may be the lesser of his three films, it level-headed proves that he is truly the king of film comedy. Can’t wait for his next one!

I really enjoyed the theatrical nick, and now, earn ready for all the nice storylines that were deleted. What you’ll witness on the director’s slit (referenced from AICN) SPOILERS AHEAD!!:

Buy,Download, Or Stream Kingdom of Heaven! Click Here

- did you realize that the priest at the beginning is actually the half-brother of Balian (Orlando Bloom)? Their relationship is considerable more complicated and poor in this version, and we learn that Balian is in jail following his wife’s death, thanks to his brother’s claim that he is possessed by the devil.

- We also learn that Balian was an engineer before he became a blacksmith, that he built war machines when he was fraction of an army, and he’s released from prison because the local lord needs Balian’s succor. So powerful more work is build into the establishment of Balian’s character that by the time we actually meet him in the film now, we have a sense of who he is.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Kingdom of Heaven! Click Here

- The lord that Balian works for? Turns out, he’s Neeson’s brother, and when Godfrey shows up in the village, he’s coming home. There’s an entire scene that takes station at the castle where it’s certain that his absence made it possible for his brother to lift over, something that his brother doesn’t want to eye change. Since Godfrey has no heir, if he dies, then his fresh lands also become the property of the brother, something that makes more sense of the battle scenes enchanting Neeson and his group of soldiers.

- When Neeson goes to talk to Balian the first time, he stops at the door to the smith’s shop, looking out at a particular set. He flashes serve to when he was younger, to when he was with Balian’s mother, and that one moment says all we need to know about the particular paradise that Godfrey seeks and that he knows he’ll never gather again. It explains so mighty about why he would want to reach and obtain amends and approach out to Balian. He’s looking for absolution, and he figures he can accept it this plan, and the film shows us instead of honest telling us.

- Baldwin IV is shown refusing the last sacrament from Patriarch Heraclius.

- Another major change is the re-insertion of the character of Baldwin V (who was shown in some of the trailers), here depicted as the son of Sibylla by Guy. He is portrayed as suffering from leprosy, like his uncle. His death is depicted as an act of euthanasia by his mother, using poison.

- Balian also fights a climactic duel with Guy.

- Additionally, Eva Green’s role as the Queen has been expanded, and she’s not there objective for Orland Bloom’s sexual interest.

- More insight into absolution, forgiveness, and politics in this time period.

(Please note: This is for the 4 disc director’s cut–for some reason this is combined with ALL versions of the movie including the Blu-ray. The Blu-ray features ONLY the first two discs of this space on one Blu-ray disc. None of the discs with extras are included as fraction of the package) .

Sometimes longer is better particularly when you have a complex record. The theatrical version of “Kingdom of Heaven” was flawed from the beginning with considerable record gaps that undermine the character development and the composed momentum of the legend. That’s because Fox had Scott slit the film by nearly an hour deleted primary and notable character development at the expense of trying to fit in more showings per theater. The result was a sprawling ambitious project that had the legend scope of “Lawrence of Arabia” without the story strength. Thank God for DVD. “Kingdom of Heaven: The Director’s Crop” restores the material demonstrating that the unusual 3 hour cleave was a shining film that played theatrical slack last year after the film had bombed at the box office. The reason the film bombed was the idiotic decision to carve the film and obtain it shorter reducing the film’s impact. While it might not have made a mammoth amount of money it would have done well at the box office as a prestige film AND would have deservedly been nominated for Oscars. Remarkable of the background myth is fleshed out and the relationships between the various characters are more clearly defined. “Kingdom of Heaven” is a ravishing myth film that recalls the power of David Lean’s epics and allows Scott’s historical drama to breath. If you’ve seen the theatrical slit you owe it to yourself to study this major film from a major talent.

The film is presented like the “Lord of the Rings” deluxe sets with the film spread over two discs. Featuring a graceful anamorphic transfer this version of the film actually looks valid with less issues with digital artifacts when compared to the previous edition of the film. The 5.1 audio presentation sounds unbelievable with both a 5.1 and 5.1DTS track that makes exceptional spend of the format. You’ll feel like you’ve set aside plopped down into the middle of the battle sequences in the action sequences and there’s amazing ambient sound effects sprinkled throughout the film even during sequences that are dialogue driven.

Special features are terrific in this region. We open off with an introduction by Scott discussing the “Director’s Gash” compared to the theatrical version of the film. Featuring Scott, writer William Monahan and actor Orlando Bloom the first commentary track (it was recorded separately and pieced together) becomes a rich resource of trivia beginning with the origin of the project and how Scott and Monahan ended up working together. The second commentary track has visual effects director Wes Sewell, assistant director Adam Somner and producer Lisa Elizey discussing the technical aspects of the shoot and the challenges they faced covering everything from the consume of digital and on position effects to second unit photography. The last commentary has editor Dody Dorn discussing the two different versions of the film. We also have production notes and information about the shooting of the film provided as text commentary.

The third and fourth discs have most of the supplements. Unfortunately neither has the pleasant A&E documentary that was fragment of the two disc residence so you may want to acquire on to your other residence if you haven’t sold it already. We have “The Path to Redemption” presented in six separate parts with each running anywhere from a half hour to twenty minutes a fraction covering the making of the film. The first of the three parts include text, images, early screenplay drafts and notes on the shooting of the movie. The second portion has cast rehearsals covering everything from the training with the weapons to costume tests. The third of the three parts has storyboards as well as a short documentary featuring scholars discussing the accuracy of the film.

The fourth disc features the last three parts on the film and includes video shot on position, storyboard galleries and photo galleries as well as deleted/extended/alternate scenes with optional commentary by Scott and editor Dorn. There’s also a fragment on the visual effects of the film as well as various sound elements to execute the unusual sound mix of the film presented in various stages. The last piece features trailers, TV spots, the Showest presentation. There’s also footage from various premieres around the world, poster galleries, footage of the press junket shot on video, image and poster galleries as well as a brief featurette similar to the one done for “Gladiator: The Extended Version” that discussed the creation of this special edition.

An exceptional film that was badly butchered by Fox prior to its premiere due to stupefied leadership at Fox, the film has finally been presented the design it should have been in the first spot. Fox DVD has done an exceptional job in putting together this package and has made amends for the map it handled the film when it was released theatrical last year. Highly recommended.

If you’ve read the other reviews, you’ll already know that the episodes on this disc are syndicated versions, not the new NBC ones. That’s a shame, as my wife and I watched the demonstrate since Day 1 (I’m 38 in 2004, you do the math) .

Buy,Download, Or Stream ALF – Season One! Click Here

It is nice to have them on DVD. Would it have been better to have the modern uncut ones? Hell yeah. But I’ll capture this. I fair hope that if the next seasons are released, that they don’t expend syndication.

The comments by Alf on the DVD menus are radiant droll, and the blooper reel is awesome (What the hell is that? A plane? ) As a long time Alf fan, I’m ecstatic to observe these on DVD, but my excitement is tinged with disappointment over them being edited.

Buy,Download, Or Stream ALF – Season One! Click Here

The DVD intros recorded by Alf are quite droll. The bit about more FBI warnings made me laugh out loud, as did some of the blooper reel – to hear Alf (mildly) enlighten made me and my wife really laugh out loud) . The syndicated instruct aside, the point to is Level-headed damn silly – there’s no getting around that deny. :)

NOTE: There’s a statement from Lion’s Gate on why they have the syndicated versions over the originals online over at TVshowsondvd.com – seek in their Alf allotment.

I have most every episode taped from the unusual NBC airings. I expected to be able to eliminate them from my ever-cluttered collection of stuff with the take of this long awaited station. Why Lions Gate chose to exhaust edited syndication episodes completely baffles the imagination. Perhaps they conception on later releasing a “Deluxe Edition” so that the consumer will come by hit twice to pay for the same product. The $40 list impress should have more than adequately covered licensing the rights to the plump episodes, but I guess there’s no extinguish to corporate greed.

I am shy by the rave reviews of the Extras: 1) a short gag reel of which only about 15% is laughable, 2) some brief trivia screens which is mostly made up of determined facts that any fan of the exhibit already knows (like A.L.F. stands for Alien Life Invent, for example), and 3) credits screens – credits for the DVD authoring is now considered a bonus extra?!?! Sheesh! Would have made better sense to have included some of the best ALF bits from Hollywood Squares, or even included some of the many commercials ALF has appeared in over the years. Or interviews with the cast reflecting on being a allotment of the prove.

The omission of a feature to play all of the episodes on a disc is simply appalling. Interactive is nice, but can you imagine an audio CD in which you have to lift each song separately? Adding this feature would have taken the authors mere minutes to code. I honest don’t obtain it.

Rather than deluxe packaging, like you pick up with most TV series box sets, a clamshell case crams in the four discs in a clunky, overlapping layout. No book, either, unbiased a single sheet listing the discs and episodes, and a slipcover for the case. I’ve seen public domain sets packaged better.

I’m not certain if the describe quality is due to the unique source or not, so I’ll reserve judgement on that. Unbiased don’t touch the Zoom button because the artifacting from the gross bitrate encoding is completely useless. Even tranquil frames in normal mode notice bumpy. No other TV series sets in my collection have these problems. How could so many elements net overlooked?

The three stars are for the episodes themselves, which are priceless. A colorful, comic, irreverent sitcom that eclipsed “Mork and Mindy”, which aired opposite ALF on rival network ABC. I mild laugh out loud every time I opinion this astounding series. The disc introductions by the ol’ ALFer himself are quite comical in their hold respect and deserve to be a fragment of a package that was created with more care, passion, and respect to the fans of the series.

If you are fond of linear plots in which one event leads to another and the whole leads to a more or less apparent conclusion, “Le divorce” is not likely to acquire powerful of an impression on you. It is not even one of those typical Merchant Ivory films which hark support nostalgically to Victorian England or the times of the Raj. “Le divorce” is something like a voyeur notice into the life of two families, one upper-crust French, the other high-brow American which are travel together by the couple whose marriage is drifting apart. The station has not enough dramatic flair as to have been made into a film, if place were the only thing to memoir for to justify a film as a work of art, but it has plenty of charm if, like me, you are partial to Paris. For those who treasure French lifestyle the film will indicate delicious: excellent decors, shots in Café Flore, the understated stardom of a plush Hermès Kelly bag and Leslie Caron’s appearance as the embodiment of French chic and cartesian rationale…all these will appeal to you. Glenn Finish is also breathtaking as ever as the American writer who after years of living in Paris has impeccably assimilated the best of both cultures. This is not a film for a rainy day and less so for people who leer for entertainment of jaded senses. This is a hedonistic film for the dilettanti, the bon-vivant, to be savoured slowly like a grand vintage bordeaux.

For those who do not understand French film making this movie may not be fascinating but for those of us who understand this is an respectable movie that speaks to the intention the French treat relationships and marriage. Some may mediate that it is misogynistic —far from it though it is unprejudiced a very staunch presentation of the French blueprint of doing things that happens to include a few american girls whose inclusion brings cultural differences into racy focus.

One of Hollywood’s most sharp yet most frequently overlooked “golden age” musicals, The Pirate is the memoir of a naive young woman (Garland) who fantasizes about being kidnapped and ravished by a dashing pirate–and who is duped by a traveling player (Kelly) into believing that he is himself the pirate of her dreams.

The complex script is extremely witty, and both Garland and Kelly play their roles with sly and often truly neurotic humor. While the script would have up on its acquire, Cole Porter’s glean adds grand excitement with such standards as “Be A Clown” and “You Can Do No Despicable,” as well as number of lesser-known but no less entrancing songs. The choreography, largely created by Kelly, is remarkably inventive, and director Vincent Minnelli’s visuals are keen, rich, and often startling in their unexpected beauty.

At demonstrate The Pirate is out of print–find it if you can, for if you’re a fan of “golden age” musicals, you’ll call it a keeper.

The Pirate starring Judy Garland and Gene Kelly is a amazing musical and the singing and dancing by the two leads is obliging and I wonder why this movie hasn’t been save on DVD yet and I assume it’s about time it got the DVD treatment! I have this movie on video but the tape is in really poor condition with several scenes that are so veteran out they are unwatchable so a DVD would be very appreciated!

Finally, Season One has arrived on DVD! If you are familiar with ER you know all the adjectives primitive to represent this novel show; Keen, Graceful, Incredible, etc.

So what does this DVD offer? Well, as the title states, the complete first season. It also includes the 1 1/2 hour pilot. In addition there are unhurried the scenes, bloopers, the making of, commentaries on three episodes, and more.

As a sincere fan of ER I have waited for this DVD for some time now. The shows are astounding to revisit. I am reminded of ‘old friends’ who have long since left the ER.

Buy,Download, Or Stream ER – The Complete First Season! Click Here

I gave up on TV a number of years ago and do not have cable or sight any TV. A family member records the unique ER episodes for me and I indulge in them each time. It is simply outstanding entertainment. The actors, account, music, editing, camera work and sooo remarkable more combine to bring out the very best in entertainment.

The only downside to this DVD comes with the packaging. The DVDs are double sided so you cannot plot the DVD down without possibly scratching it. Also, because there is no imprint on each DVD you need to read the very shapely print reach the center hole to identify which DVD is # 1, 2, 3, or 4. And the print is even smaller to figure out which side is A/B.

My 5 star rating is based on the quality of the episodes. The extras included with the DVD deserve 4 stars, and the packaging would be only 1 star.

ER is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. I’ve been watching it from the airing of the Pilot and I’ve been zigzag ever since. If you are looking for an emotional high this is the exhibit to peep. The writers and actors are unbelievable. Each episode makes me laugh, yell, and gets my adrenaline pumping. This demonstrate confronts extremely controversial, contemporary issues and even though I’m not in the medical profession I absorb that it is very realistic. Anyone who works with a lot of people day in and day out can describe to what it is like to be pulled in several different directions at once and quiet try to fill a professional facade, which I assume this display pulls off beautifully.

I’m not certain we’re all seeing the same movie here. One comment I preserve hearing is that the actresses did not effect well, and I cannot comprehend it. Ziyi Zhang especially gave one of the best performances I have seen in years, at least. Impartial gaze at her physically shaking during her last scene with Ken Watanabe. This complete giving over to the emotion of the character is nearly unsurpassed in anything I’ve seen in years, and I’m a immense cinemaphile. That’s not to mention the flawless plan she carried the postures and demeanor of the child star that played her young self through-out, giving a sense of consistency that I have almost never seen done this well. It’s early impossible to remember that these two actresses are not really the same person with the plan their performances meshed. So, maybe it’s the reserved nature of Asian women, and the dualing of this nature with a sense of individuality and self-expression that people are interpreting as “not belief the character”?

All I can say is, the cinematography and settings are magnificent, as are the actresses (and what a stellar cast!), the performances are stout (maybe the bar has been lowered so considerable lately that the degree of skill brought to the hide here is more than some people can handle) . That’s the only reason I can offer for the terrible reactions I have heard.

The narrative is inviting, and very realistic in terms of human nature. The romance is astonishing. There are flashes of humor and some of the script is pure poetry (and as a poet you can bear me on that!) I could go on all day, but let me unbiased say this.

The movie is awesome, and the time flew by for me. It is not the over-wrought heart-rending sap that some may want it to be, but it is very proper to the draw most people behave, and especially in the reserved manner of the Japanese. In my book everyone enthusiastic in this deserves a stout round of kudos, and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys dazzling things, and incredibly realized films.

Memoirs of a Geisha is a comely movie. I haven’t read the book, but now wish I had. The movie is finish to 2 1/2 hours long, but the yarn and scenery are so interesting, it seems so powerful quicker. The costumes are improbable and it’s no wonder they are nominated for Oscars.

It tells the sage of a tiny girl called Chiyo who along with her older sister, is sold by their father who has no money. The people who bought her, want to create her a geisha so she goes off to school but brings disgrace to herself and therefore they fabricate her their slave. Upon chance, she meets a kind man who buys her a sweet cherry ice cone. She never forgets him and sees him again by chance some years later. Now she has hope and learns again (in a shatter course) how to be a geisha and her modern name is Sayuri.

The yarn that unfolds from there has ups and downs but the ending is so absorbing that of course I cried my head off. The setting is aesthetic and it made me want to go and visit Japan. The music too is comely and I hope they do pick up some Oscars next week because it’s a very deserving movie. There is also a huge performance by an actress called Li Gong who plays ‘Queen Bitch’ Hatsumomo and witness for a exiguous role played by Ted Levine who we normally spy in a silly role as Captain Leland Stottlemeyer in Monk.

Beautiful proceed that you absolutely have to survey. (Especially on the sizable conceal if you level-headed can) .

This set gives the newbie a taste of the original adventures of Captain Kirk, Commander Spock, Chief Medical Officer McCoy, Chief Engineer Scott, Lieutenants Uhura and Sulu, and Ensign Chekov. You get three excellent thought-provoking episodes, as well as the light-hearted “The Trouble with Tribbles.”

In “City on the Edge of Forever”, Captain Kirk and First Officer Spock must save the future when the time line is altered and history is changed for the worse.

The taut Cold War-era infused “Balance of Terror” pits two determined warriors as we meet the Romulans for the first time.

The usually logical Mr. Spock looses all emotional control in “Amok Time” as he is compelled to return home to Vulcan to consummate his arranged marriage.

With the release of the latest Star Trek film in theaters, Paramount is making sure they are releasing a good number of Star Trek related films and TV series on Blu-ray but two DVD’s that would showcase both “Star Trek” and “Star Trek: The Next Generation” on DVD with four episodes.

Personally, any “Best of” is subject for criticism by fans. But the good news that for this series, these four episodes are on the top of the lists for various polls of “Best of Star Trek: The Original Series”. Granted, there could have been many episodes that could have made the cut but for these four episodes alone, you can’t deny how attractive this DVD is for its price ($10 or less) and the fact that it is the enhanced remastered version (although presented in standard definition on DVD).

For me, I was excited to see “THE CITY ON THE EDGE OF FOREVER” included. This is such a classic, well-written episode that I remember buying an original VHS release for this one episode alone. The addition of “THE TROUBLE WITH TRIBBLES” is no surprise, as this episode is a classic for it’s fuzzily cute storyline. The other two episodes “BALANCE OF TERROR” and “AMOK TIME” are two classics but personally, I would love to have seen “SPACE SEED” which is the first appearance of Khan (would make sense for this film to be added since the films were released on the same day on Blu-ray) and also “Mirror, Mirror” or “The Doomsday Machine” which are really awesome episodes.

But I figured, that perhaps Paramount doesn’t want to give it all away and give the viewer a reason why to pick up the series on DVD or Blu-ray. And for those who have prevented themselves from watching the latest “Star Trek” film because you felt you knew nothing about “Star Trek”, then this DVD can definitely be a primer to the working relationship and friendship between Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock and Dr. McCoy.

For those who have owned the box sets or the fan collections, personally, there is no reason for them to buy this DVD. Unless one is a hardcore completest or want to own a “Star Trek” DVD with a “Best Of” attached to the name, then go for it.

But for those who recently watched the latest J.J. Abrams “Star Trek” film and are now curious about the older “Star Trek” series but don’t want to spend for the DVD or Blu-ray set, then you really can’t go wrong with “THE BEST OF STAR TREK THE ORIGINAL SERIES”.

You get four popular episodes that are quite solid and are highly regarded episodes by Trekkers. Personally, at $10, this release is a steal! Definitely worth the purchase if you don’t own the DVD/Blu-ray sets!

It’s the kookiest Christmas ever when Santa Claus is kidnapped by Martians in this “you have to examine it to bear it” Christmas “classic.” Maybe you’ve seen this movie hilariously skewered on Mystery Science Theater 3000, but you have to stare it on its occupy to truly savor it. Santa Claus Conquers the Martians is unbiased so abominable that I can’t aid but like it, and that explains why I am giving this deservedly one-star movie four stars. The Martian get-ups are more ridiculous than Marvin the Martian’s normal attire, the sets redefine the very definition of cheap, the acting is over-the-top and generally inappropriate, and Santa is – well, he’s unprejudiced a minute bit outlandish, if you ask me. Every time the guy starts in with his distinctive laughing (usually for no apparent reason), I am reminded of the fact that Satan is spelled with the same letters as Santa.

Things aren’t going so well on Mars. It’s awful enough that the Martians are all colored a ridiculous shade of green, dress like rejected superheroes, and wear ridiculous antenna-spouting helmets on their heads at all times, but now the children of Mars are all acting sad and withdrawn; all they want to do is sit and peek Earth TV. Kimar (Leonard Hicks), the leader of Mars, seeks the advice of the planet’s 800-year broken-down wise man and is told that he must bring Santa Claus to Mars so that the children can actually have fun and be children for a minute while. Voldar (Vincent Beck) opposes the conception every step of the contrivance, arguing that Kimar’s view will soon result in a whole planet fat of lily-livered, mush-brained nincompoops. Kimar wins out and sets off for Earth in the most pathetic spaceship of all time to come by Santa and bring him serve to Mars – along with two Earthling children. Well, Santa starts up a fresh workshop on Mars, hoping he’ll be allowed to return home in time for Christmas, but Voldar is as tenacious as he is ridiculous-looking and is obvious to ruin Santa and stomp out all signs of Christmas spirit on the red planet.

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians features a young Pia Zadora as a miniature Martian girl, but perhaps the movie’s most unforgettable feature is the swinging theme song, Hooray for Santa Claus. If you behold the movie, you’ll have this comical song in your head for days. Dropo (Bill McCutcheon) gives a memorable performance as Mars’ resident screw-up with a heart of gold, but my thoughts always remain with John Call and his disturbingly outlandish portrayal of Santa Claus. I can shapely remarkable guarantee that this movie will obtain you laugh with its unashamed ineptness, and poor movie lovers are ineligible for their very first merit badge until they have watched Santa Claus Conquers the Martians and lived to state about it.

Maybe I’m nuts, (some would not argue, including my wife) but I like this movie. It’s one of those flicks that looks like you could originate it yourself. Santa, played by John Call, looks very convincing as a Santa, but that manical laugh,(you’ve got to hear it) . Sounds like Santa’s a slight deranged. Pia Zadora is cute as a exiguous martian. It’s hard to acquire grown adults would wear those goofy martian helmets(they had to starving) . But this is a fun movie. That bouncy theme song; Voldar the immoral martian; and, if I’m not improper, Stobo the martian has a striking resemblence to Jamie Farr. The final credits say Al Nesor, but I fill that was an alias acting name for Mr. Farr support then. No wonder he changed his name for the movie. Observe this movie with your kids, it’s harmless, there is no nudity; and the violence, what miniature there is, is hysterical! If you like movies like Robot Monster, Idea 9 from outer residence, and EEGAH! like I do, then this movie is for you.
